Bay Area 3, Lakeshore Lightning 1
A 3-1 win over Lakeshore Lightning pushed the Bay Area Ice Bears to a perfect 8-0 in the Eastern Shores Conference and 15-1 overall.
The Ice Bears notched 47 shots on goal, while Lakeshore only had 16.
Madeline Engles scored first at 6:04 in the first period with assists from Malin Jewitt and Ava McDonald.
At 12:48 in the second period, McDonald scored with help from Jewitt and Addison Dahl.
Lakeshore made it a 2-1 game when they scored in the third period, but Faye Brunke pushed the score to 3-1 with a goal at 13:51. McDonald and Hannah Von Haden assisted.
Reese Spiering had 15 saves for Bay Area, and Elizabeth Bowers had 44 for Lakeshore.
There were no penalties in the game.
Next up for the Ice Bears is a conference away game at the Arrowhead Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23.
