Shawano County’s 403rd barn quilt is on display at the Shawano County Humane Society.
It has been sponsored in memory of Patricia and Sally Dillenburg.
The humane society was started in 1992 and was located on Airport Road. With a growing need for more space, a new building was built at its present location at 1290 Jaycee Court in Shawano, where the humane society has been located since 2002.
The quilt pattern has been named Hope Fur Paws.
“We are all very excited to have this beautiful barn quilt on our building,” Executive Director Pam Nowak said. “We’ve already received many compliments on how nice the quilt looks.”
The humane society services include pet adoptions, taking visiting pets to nursing homes, presenting school programs and offering tours of the facility. Always in need of funding, the society holds several fundraisers and events each year, including a Whisker Walk, annual banquet, Cloverleaf Walk, Maple Lane Fun Fest, Zion Health Fair, and the Shawano County Fair.
Present officers and board members are President Dustin Martzke, Vice President Jill Birr, Treasurer John Seidel, Secretary and Animal Care Manager Sarah Magee and board members Carolyn Zuhse, Bob Kurkiewicz, Cathy Pescinski and Jim Osborne.
