Construction on the U.S. Highway 141 resurfacing and culvert replacement project in Marinette and Oconto counties has been moved up to 2027 instead of the previously planned 2028 construction year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The project covers about 8.3 miles Highway 141 from County Road C in Wausaukee to County Road K in the Town of Amberg. The project is expected to correct severe pavement deterioration and substandard culverts and guardrail.
Improvements include:
• Highway 141 will be resurfaced using cold in-place recycling (CIR), a sustainable and cost-effective method that reuses existing pavement materials. Key specifications include milling off about 2.75 inches of the existing surface and placing 3 inches of CIR pavement.
• Replacement of 19 guardrail segments totaling about 10,771 linear feet
• Maintenance and replacement of 23 culverts.
• Other secondary work such as culvert extensions, lining, cleaning, end wall replacement and resetting, section resetting and ditch cleaning.
Highway 141 is expected to always remain open using flagging operations during construction.
