Wade Fernandez will be performing a concert at 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at First Congregational Church of Christ, 724 E. South River St., Appleton.
At the concert, a freewill offering will be received to benefit the Waking Women Healing Institute, started by Kristen Welch, of Gresham, to address and prevent Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and acts of sexual violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirits. Please note that masks are required at this event.
Fernandez, whose Menominee name is Walks with the Black Wolf, is a multi-award winning international touring artist from the Menominee Nation. Fernandez was in Appleton for Mile of Music 2021 and has just returned from Washington, D.C., for rehearsals at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Winning numerous awards in many genres, Fernandez’s musical style knows no bounds. Beginning his solo career joining Jackson Browne and the Indigo Girls onstage has led to a long career with over 60 international tours. Both his music and his message are firmly grounded in his Menominee reservation roots and love for the land, animals and people.
