Jenny Hangartner, library project chairwoman, reported this year’s grant recipients during Nu Chapter’s April meeting held at the Clintonville High School instructional media center. Libraries for Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School in Clintonville and Bonduel High School each received a $200 grant. Two different school libraries throughout Waupaca and Shawano counties receive the grant on a rotating basis each year.
Kathy Akey, Marge Wichmann and Faith Webster attended and judged events during the Wisconsin Educators Rising Annual Summit held at UW-Stevens Point on March 2. One hundred forty students from 19 schools attended the summit. Among the many individual and team competitive events were public speaking, job interview, lesson plan and delivery, impromptu speaking, impromptu lesson, ethical dilemma, and many more. Thirteen students will represent Wisconsin during the national summit held in Washington, D.C.
Educators Rising Wisconsin is a network of students, teachers, and education leaders aiming to inform and inspire young people to pursue a career in education. Educators Rising Wisconsin allows students in grades 9-12 to explore careers in education, an important step in preparing quality teachers for tomorrow’s schools. Phi Delta Kappa is the national sponsor, and WEAC is the state coordinator.
Nu Chapter donated $250 along with a Wisconsin State Organization $250 grant to the summit.
