Bonduel, Witt-Birn to play for regional baseball title

June 4 Seymour 3, Shawano 1 Shawano lost 3-1 to Seymour in a WIAA Division 2 regional playoff game postponed one day due to rain. The Hawks, 13-9 overall, ended the season in third place in the Bay Conference with an 11-7 record. Bonduel 6, Coleman 2 Bonduel started its Division 3 regional game with back-to-back singles by Cade Johnson and Race Anvelink. They both scored on ground balls and so did Beckett Hartlaben as the Bears scored three runs in the first inning. Bonduel added a run in the second on a single by Jack Zernicke. Coleman scored one in the second on a hit by Alex Meyer. The Cougars cut the deficit to 4-2 on a single by Gavin Pusick in the sixth. The Bears got two big insurance runs in the seventh inning on a single by Aiden Hillsberg. Cade Johnson shut the Cougars down in the seventh for the 6-2 final. Bonduel, seeded No. 5, runs its record to 15-8 and will play at No. 1 seed Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 4:30 p.m. June 5. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 8, St. Mary Catholic 3 Wittenberg-Birnamwood advanced to the regional final with an 8-3 win over St. Mary Catholic in Division 3 action. Waupaca 6, Oconto Falls 4 The Panthers lost to Waupaca 6-4 in eight innings as the Oconto Falls team’s season came to an end. Oconto Falls ended the season at 17-7 overall. The team placed third in the North Eastern Conference with a 12-6 record. Lena 10, Gresham 0 Lena, the No. 1 seed in its Division 4 sectional, shut out Gresham 10-0 in six innings to advance to the regional final. Gresham ended the season at 10-6 overall while tying for second at 6-4 in the CWC North. Florence 10, Bowler 0 Like Gresham, its neighboring school district, Bowler, was shut out 10-0 to end its season. Bowler lost in five innings to Florence, which advanced to the regional final. Bowler ended the season at 8-6 overall. The Panthers tied Gresham at 6-4 for third place in the CWC North. Pacelli 8, Tigerton 1 Tigerton’s season came to an end with an 8-1 loss to No. 1 seed Pacelli. At 15-3 overall, the Tigers won the CWC North with a 10-1 record. Pulaski 9, Green Bay Southwest 2 Pulaski, seeded No. 6, defeated No.11 seed Green Bay Southwest 9-2 in the opening round of Division 1 regional games. The Red Raiders will play June 5 at Hortonville for the regional championship. June 3 Tigerton 8, Rosholt 1 Tigerton advanced to the regional final game after an 8-1 win over Rosholt.
