Spencer Lichon is the new strength and wellness coordinator at the Pulaski High School Fitness Center.
Lichon is a 2007 Green Bay West High School graduate. He is a 2011 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point graduate, where he majored in health promotion/wellness with a minor in strength and conditioning.
“We are very excited to have a full time, successful strength and wellness coordinator to offer our students, workers, and community,” said PHS athletic director Janel Batten. “Spencer Lichon is a high-quality individual, who will be a great addition to the PCSD. We are excited to have him join our team.”
Lichon comes to the district after 11 years at the Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine Facility, where he helped train Green Bay Southwest and other high school athletes including some from Pulaski. He is looking forward to increasing use of the facility.
“I’ll be working with the students, student athletes and staff as well as the community,” Lichon said.
He will also step in to coordinate the popular summer Build a Better Raider fitness program.
Veterans organization serving up spaghetti
Vets 4 Vets of Northeast Wisconsin is hosting its 20th annual veterans spaghetti dinner from 3-6 p.m. Nov. 11 at Red Maple Country Club, 501 Golf Course Road, Suring.
Spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread will be served; carry-outs are available on request. The spaghetti dinner is free for veterans; cost for guests and the general public is $7 per person.
A full cash bar and dining room service at Red Maple will be available, with silent auctions, 50/50 raffles, a meat raffle, Bingo and more. Oconto County Veteran Service Officer Ron Christensen will be the keynote speaker for the event, and a licensed Medicare insurance agent will be on hand to answer questions.
All veterans who bring in their invitation postcards will be eligible to win grocery gift certificates. Veterans and active military who do not have an invitation are welcome to attend the dinner and can fill out a postcard to be eligible for the grocery gift certificates, but they should bring a military ID or proof of military service, if possible.
Operation Christmas Child starts 2022 season
Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe box project is well underway at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 S. Main St., Oconto Falls.
Ellen Pritzlaff, local coordinator, noted that last year, the church collected and shipped over 1,000 shoe boxes gathered from throughout the community. Aninformational display at the Oconto Falls Community Library will show how people can participate.
The shoe boxes contain wash cloths, bar soap, hygiene items, small toys, school supplies, and much more suitable for children ages 2-14. There will be no candy or liquids. There is a designated collection tote next to the church office door for donations to be dropped off anytime. Monetary gifts are also welcome. Every shoe box will go directly to a child in need extending the love of Christ around the world.
Shoe box packing parties at Grace Lutheran are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, as well as 10 a.m. Nov. 12. Questions can be directed to Pritzlaff at 920-362-5752 or epritzlaff@hotmail.com.
Library serving coffee for local veterans event
To honor veterans for Veterans Day, the Gillett Public Library will host Coffee with a Vet at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Gillett Library Community Center, 204 E. Main St., Gillett.
Cookies for the event will be donated by Cookies and Co Sweet Shop, and the coffee will be donated by The Cracked Cup, both Gillett businesses.

Lakewood library gets to $10K donation goal
Lakes Country Public Library in Lakewood has received over $10,000 in matching donations for a contribution made in September by an anonymous donor.
“In just six weeks, we received 37 donations ranging in amounts from $20 to $1,000,” said Library Director Katie Essermann. “Some came from other states: Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and Washington.”
The donations are going toward the library’s building and expansion project. Essermann noted that the library’s recent fundraising success has resulted in another offer of an even larger matching challenge. Essermann did not specify the amount but said more information would be provided in the coming weeks.
Hillside announces its annual Thanksgiving meal
Hillside Assembly of God Church has announced its 32nd annual Gillett Community Thanksgiving Dinner, consisting of turkey and ham with all the trimmings, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the church, 5890 State Highway 22 in Gillett.
This dinner is offered to anyone who would enjoy the feeling of being a part of a large family. There is no charge for the dinner. Anyone who is homebound and lives in Gillett, Suring, Cecil or Oconto Falls can have a meal delivered.
Seating will be limited. When making reservations, ask for a specific time slot: 3:30-4:15 p.m., 4:30-5:15 p.m. or 5:30-6:15 p.m. For dine-in dinner reservations, meal pick up, meal delivery, or to volunteer, call the church at 920-855-2962 or email teri@hillsideassembly.com. Kelly Lake Sanitary District 1 will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the district office building, 9535 Green Acres St., Suring.
