The Kids from Wisconsin will hit the road July 1 for iconic performances by 36 young performers ages 15-20, hailed as the most talented musicians from across the state. The troupe has been proclaimed as Wisconsin’s premier musical ambassadors for over five decades.
The Kids will be coming to Shawano for one night only, performing at 7:30 p.m. July 6 at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $15 for reserved seating.
Prior to that are two free events, a performing arts workshop entitled “Realize Your Dream” at 4 p.m., followed by an arts spotlight at 6:30 p.m. that is an interactive tour of what the community’s arts programs include.
Sarah Bergmann, from Shawano, is one of the participating performers. She has been an active piano accompanist for several years, which has given her the opportunity to play a variety of musical styles with many vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Bergmann will be joined by another Shawano performer, Nathan Edwards. He plays in the jazz band, symphonic wind ensemble and other chamber groups at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The talented group will present the Big Bang Boom Tour. This showstopper will feature decades of eclectic fads, explosive dance crazes, artists and bands that have burst forth onto the music scene. British invasions, Swedish bands, Motown, Swing dance and Disney are just some of the influences that have ignited today’s music genres.
The professional, fully staged Vegas-style performance is designed for a multi-generational audience. The group tours the Midwest and will perform to more than 120,000 audience members this summer. The two-hour production will be performed more than 45 times through Aug. 20, which includes performances daily at the Wisconsin State Fair.
