Terry L. Raddant

Terry L. Raddant, 57, of Shawano, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at ManorCare in Shawano. Born on June 19, 1956, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Marvin “Boots” and Donna (Pleshek) Raddant. Terry was raised in the Shawano area and attended Shawano High School. He later worked as a union welder and later did concrete work. When not at work, Terry enjoyed fishing, hunting, ice fishing with Uncle Dick, going up north with his family, playing bingo and playing cards. He also enjoyed coaching Little League with his nephews and later with his own children.

Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk

Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk, 84, Bowler, died on Friday, July 12, 2013, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born July 7, 1929, in Wausau, the son of the late Eddie and Viola (Rosenow) Schenk. On April 18, 1953, Bud was united in marriage to Lila Kriegel at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tigerton. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2013. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Davenport-Lang American Legion Post 414, Bowler.

Thomas L. Richards

Thomas Lee Richards, 76, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 12, 1936, in Argonne, he was the son of the late George and Helen (House) Richards. In 1955 Tom enlisted with the United States Navy and served his country for four years aboard an aircraft carrier. On June 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Splitgerber at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Tom worked for the Maple Lane Health Care Facility in the town of Belle Plaine for 25 years. He also drove school bus in Shawano for 19 years.

Doris Beatrice Bruchs

Doris Beatrice Bruchs, 69, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Appleton Medical Center with her family by her side. Doris was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Shawano, daughter of the late Lavern and Elvira (Gerbig) Richter. She was united in marriage to Ira Bruchs on April 24, 1971, in Shawano. She was a homemaker for many years and a housekeeper at AMC. Doris enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening and baking. Most important to Doris was spending time with her four precious grandchildren and spending meaningful time in prayer.

Ralph L. Smith Sr.

Ralph L. Smith Sr., who was better known as Butch by family and close friends, 73, of Wittenberg, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Born on Oct. 28, 1939, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, he is the son of the late Ralph B. and Ruth M. (Fowler) Smith. Ralph graduated from Gambier High School in Gambier, Ohio. He attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts as well as the Kenyon College in Gambier and was in the Army Reserves. On Oct. 30, 1970, in Brandon, Ohio, Ralph and Anna K. Steinhauer were happily united in marriage. Ralph was a lifelong farmer.

Doris A. Schroeder

Doris A. Schroeder, 97, Wittenberg, died Monday, July 8, 2013, under the care of AseraCare Hospice at Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born March 1, 1916, in the town of Morris, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Kanaman) Spiegel. On June 9, 1934, Doris was united in marriage to Walter Schroeder in the town of Morris. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1972. Doris worked as a nurse’s aide and cook at Cady Home, Birnamwood. She loved family gatherings and traveling, especially to Florida and New Mexico. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and was an avid Bible reader.

Robert A. “Bob” Jacobs

Robert A. “Bob” Jacobs, 70, of Bowler, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on March 20, 1943, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Welch) Jacobs. Bob was raised and attended school in the Milwaukee area. On Nov. 1, 1960, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served his country for two years. On May 5, 1973, he was united in marriage to Dianne Wolske in Milwaukee, and in 1977 the couple moved to the Bowler area. Bob was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness and the Mohican Veterans.

Stanley J. Ratner

Stanley J. Ratner, 98, of Shawano, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on May 25, 1915, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Dave and Sophie (Lipsky) Ratner. After graduating from high school in Chicago, Stanley furthered his education at Northwestern University. On Nov. 18, 1938, he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Mahy in Chicago. The couple moved to the Shawano area in 1952, where they established and operated the Washerette.

Janet L. Hacker

Janet L. Hacker, 78, of Tavares, Fla., formerly of Wisconsin, journeyed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 8, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 4, 1935, in Scandinavia, Wis., to the late Richard and Emma (Swenson) Kitzman and graduated from Marion High School in 1952. Janet was united in marriage to Robert L. Hacker on July 3, 1954, and recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. Janet worked many jobs in the early years, the most important beingmother to her and Robert’s six children. She retired as head teller of the former Valley Bank in Menasha.
