Walter E. Saffran

Walter E. Saffran, 89, Oconto Falls, died suddenly of natural causes at home Friday evening, Jan. 3, 2020. He was born July 28, 1930, to Walter L. and Anna (Coleman) Saffran. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mary Ann Schelk, 72, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, surrounded by family. Born Sept. 21, 1947, in Oconto Falls to the late Herman and Laverne (Colson) Gandt. Mary Ann grew up in Gillett and graduated from Gillett High School in 1966. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Gillett.

She married Marvin Schelk on Aug. 25, 1967. He preceded her in death in October 1994.

JoAnn Schabell, 78, of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her home. JoAnn was born in Forestville, Door County, on June 12, 1941, daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel (Miekle) Lau. JoAnn graduated from Green Bay West High School.

David B. Sleeman, 92, of Cecil, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 in Shawano. David was born on Feb. 12, 1927, in Mineral Hills, Michigan, to the late Harold and Violet (James) Sleeman. He graduated from the Iron River, Michigan high school in 1944 and the Michigan Technological University in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Daniel J. Dumas, 73, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay surrounded by family, following complications from being exposed to Agent Orange during his military service. He was born Sept. 4, 1946, on the family farm in rural Lena to Daniel and Phyllis (Smith) Dumas. Dan grew up in rural Lena and attended Lena High School.

Judy R. Routheau, 82, Oconto Falls, died suddenly Thursday afternoon, Dec. 26, 2019, of natural causes with her family present. The oldest of three children of Robert and Greda (Krepline) Routheau was born May 6, 1937, in Peshtigo. Her early years were spent in Peshtigo where she learned to enjoy fishing from her Grandpa Krepline. As a young girl, Judy moved to Green Bay where she graduated from West High School.
