Caroline A. Storma, 92, of Appleton, formerly of Shawano, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born Nov. 2, 1927, daughter of the late George and Kathleen (Brownson) Blohm.

Jeanne Grace (Moede) Ahlborg, 88, Oconto Falls, passed away ever so peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 17, 2020. Jeanne was born May 8, 1931, in Eland and she was the daughter of Eldor and Myrtle (James) Moede. After graduating from OFHS in 1949, Jeanne followed her parent’s vocation and became a teacher, teaching in Oconto County rural schools.

Samuel Kootaka, 77, of Suring, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at The Bay at Suring Nursing Home. Sam was born March 17, 1942, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Samuel and Martha (Simeona) Takata. He grew up in the Hilo area of the Big Island of Hawaii. Sam graduated from Hilo High School. In 1962, Sam became a Merchant Marine working as a fireman-water tender aboard the U.S.N.S. Longview, which was mapping islands in the Pacific Ocean. Sam also served his country in the United States Army for two years as a medical corpsman stationed at a clinic in Thailand.

Barbara Ann (Kaszinski) Brock, 75, of Gillett, went to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020. Barb was born Jan. 31, 1944, in Lena to the late Edward and Irene Kaszinski. She graduated from Gillett High School with the Class of 1962. On April 10, 1965, Barb married Russel Brock at Section Eight Baptist Church in Pound. Barb and Russel lived in Maple Valley on the family farm on Brock Road where they raised their three children.

Norma M. Jones Lutzke, 94, Two Rivers, formerly of Reedsville and Oconto Falls, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2020, at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Two Rivers to (Charles) Otto and Elsie (Schultz) Nelson, where she attended St. John’s Lutheran School, graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1943. Norma was always fond of her graduating class and continued to organize reunions for her classmates.

Kenneth “Dewey” Shallow, 79, Lena, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday Jan. 15, 2020, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1940, in the Town of Oconto to Oliver Sr. and Gladys (Brabant) Shallow. On Dec 15, 1973, Dewey was united in marriage to Mary Lynn Thomson at St Charles Catholic Church in Lena. Dewey began farming on the family farm at a young age and after high school remained there with his brother Russ until retiring in 1999. In his retirement, Dewey began working for Ourown construction for another seven years.

George Bratz

On Jan. 14, 2020, we lost a beloved family member and friend when George Bratz, 83, passed away at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca in the presence of friends who loved him like family. Born Feb. 17, 1936, in Elderon to Walter and Ann (Olson) Bratz, George has always been just “George” – flannel, suspenders and his blaze orange jacket, always ready with a smile and genuinely wanting to know how you’ve been. In fact, George was just happy to be around people who loved and accepted him.
