Northcentral Technical College (NTC) will welcome students back to its campuses for the fall semester on Aug. 31 as scheduled. Students will have the opportunity to select from a full menu of academic offerings, including in person classes, Virtual College courses that offer the highest level of flexibility with self-paced lectures and assignments and hybrid courses offered through Zoom that provide more structured learning with set lecture times and deadlines.

Recent proceedings in Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court:
• Daryl D. Tucker, 39, was sentenced by Judge William Kussel Jr. on June 23 to four months in prison and two years’ probation on a felony count of possession of methamphetamine. Tucker pleaded no contest to the charge.
Prevea Health has expanded access to free COVID-19 testing.
“The ability to test more people for COVID-19 is critical in curbing the spread of the virus throughout our communities,” says Dr. Ashok Rai, President and CEO, Prevea Health. “This is especially important now as we see the state of Wisconsin trending upward in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days, and as we see an increase in the number of patients with symptoms of the virus seeking testing.”
Police logged 14 incidents, including the following: A disturbance in the 100 block of South Andrews Street; a property damage hit-and-run in the 300 block of West Pine Street; a property damage accident in the 1300 block of East Green Bay Street; an assault complaint at the Four Seasons, 201 N. Airport Drive.

Roundabouts, a relatively new passageway on Wisconsin highways, pose challenges for some senior citizens, says the American Automobile Association.
A roundabout is a small traffic circle that allows vehicles to make turns without stop signs or lights. Roundabouts move traffic by allowing the car or truck in the circle to have the right of way.
Tigerton School District Board offered the district administrator/principal position to Dr. Kelley Strike during a closed session meeting of the June 15 school board meeting.
Strike will replace Ben Rayome, who held the position from 2016 until April 2020 when he and the board mutually agreed to end his contract. Strike will begin her position July 1.
“Developing relationships and encouraging students to engage in the learning process is my mission in education,” said Strike. “As a leader, I intend to listen, learn, share, build and plan as I step into this new position.”
Ho-Chunk Gaming Wittenberg will be reopening its casino doors Monday, June 29. The new hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
According to General Manager Fletcher Collins, just the casino will reopen with the possibility of bar service, but the hotel and food venues will not be open.
As I write this newsletter, I can honestly say this has been an unprecedented end to one school year and equally, has provided similar challenges in our preparation for the next. That goes without saying. It has likely been a similar experience for everyone in their respective professions and walks of life.
Beginning in fall 2020, students at Northcentral Technical College can select from eight new degree programs created in response to job market changes and the needs of current and prospective students.
