Wisconsin men's basketball team sets home-and-home series with Arizona

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team announced on May 22 that it has agreed to a home-and-home series with Arizona, adding an exciting matchup to its schedule for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

The Badgers are scheduled to travel to Tucson to face the Wildcats on Dec. 9. Arizona is set to make its first-ever appearance in Madison for a matchup at the Kohl Center on Nov. 15, 2024.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team announced its latest roster addition on April 26, as head coach Greg Gard shared that AJ Storr will transfer and play basketball for the Badgers beginning in the fall of 2023.

A 6-foot-6 guard from Rockford, Illinois, Storr transferred to the Badgers after playing his freshman season at St. John’s. The Big East All-Freshman team honoree played in all 33 games for the Red Storm, averaging 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 21 minutes per game. He shot 43.4% from the floor, including 40.4% from 3-point range.

Wisconsin men's basketball to host Tennessee at Kohl Center

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team announced on April 20 that it will host Tennessee for a nonconference game at the Kohl Center this upcoming season on November 10.

The matchup is part of a home-and-home series that the Badgers and Volunteers agreed to back in 2019. UW traveled to Knoxville during the 2019-20 season, earning a 68-48 win at Thompson-Boling Arena. Wisconsin was originally scheduled to host Tennessee the following season, but was unable to due to complications from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team announced its newest roster addition on April 13, as head coach Greg Gard shared that Noah Reynolds will transfer and play basketball for the Badgers beginning in fall 2023.

A 6-foot-3 guard from Peoria, Illinois, Reynolds spent the past two seasons at Wyoming, where he played in a total of 42 games averaging 8.1 points per game and 45.8% shooting.

Wisconsin’s Tyler Wahl says he’s returning for fifth season

Wisconsin’s Tyler Wahl says he plans to return to the Badgers next season for his fifth year of eligibility.

The 6-foot-9 forward announced his decision on social media. Wahl is capitalizing on the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted players due to the pandemic.

“I have always wanted to leave the Wisconsin jersey better than I found it and our team has accomplished a lot over the last few years … but we’re not finished,” Wahl said in his announcement.

He added: “I can’t wait to create new memories with this group of guys and this program.”

Marquette men win conference tournament title

The Marquette men’s basketball team backed up its Big East Conference regular season title with a conference tournament title and then received a No. 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin lost its opening matchup in the Big Ten Tournament and found out March 12 that it missed the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers are instead slated to play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

After topping St. John’s 72-70 on March 9 and UConn 70-68 on March 10, Marquette eased past Xavier 65-51 in the Big East Tournament title game on March 11.

Wisconsin is at it again.

The 14th-ranked Badgers seem poised to outperform preseason expectations dramatically for a second straight year. This time, they’re doing it without the benefit of having an NBA lottery pick on their roster.

Wisconsin (11-2, 3-0 Big Ten) has won six straight and is tied for first place in the Big Ten standings with Michigan (9-5, 3-0). The Badgers can earn their first 4-0 start in Big Ten competition since 2012-13 with a victory Saturday at Illinois (9-5, 0-3).

Johnny Davis, Dana Rettke named Wisconsin Athletes of the Year

Johnny Davis from the Wisconsin men’s basketball team and Dana Rettke from the Badger volleyball team have been named the 2021-22 Wisconsin Athletes of the Year, the UW Athletic Department announced.

Davis earns his first Athlete of the Year award while Rettke picks up her second honor after being named the UW and Big Ten Conference Female Athlete of the Year in 2019-20.

The duo will now be up for the 2021-22 Big Ten Athletes of the Year, which will be announced June 29.

Wisconsin’s Davis selected 10th overall in 2022 NBA Draft

Johnny Davis became the latest Badger to see his NBA dreams come true, as the Wisconsin men’s basketball standout was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft on June 23 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Davis became Wisconsin’s highest drafted player and UW’s first NBA lottery pick since Frank Kaminsky went ninth overall to the Charlotte Hornets in the 2015 NBA Draft. Sam Dekker was also selected in 2015, drafted 18th overall in the first round by the Houston Rockets.

Wisconsin basketball teams to participate in ‘Brew City Battle’

Wisconsin Athletics has announced the Aurora Health Care “Brew City Battle,” a groundbreaking event featuring both the Wisconsin men’s and women’s basketball teams competing in a doubleheader at American Family Field on Nov. 11.

The first basketball games ever played at the home of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Wisconsin women’s team will face Kansas State followed by the UW men’s team taking on Stanford.

Game times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
