Pulaski wins softball regional title on walk-off

The Pulaski High School softball team won a Division 1 regional title on May 25 after topping Fox River Classic Conference foe Bay Port 2-1 in Pulaski.

Third-seeded Pulaski won in dramatic fashion, with Haleigh Oleson scoring the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.

“It feels really good,” said Oleson of the regional title win. “Bay Port is a tough team, and we showed that we can win against a well-rounded team. It was definitely a total team effort as well; everyone played their role perfectly.

Shawano's No. 1 doubles team headed to state

Shawano Community High School's George Buerman and Tristan Sheldon placed fourth in No. 1 doubles play during the Division 1 Notre Dame Sectional on May 25 in Green Bay to qualify for state.

Buerman and Sheldon opened their day with a 6-2, 1-6, 11-9 win over Kimberly. That win qualified the duo for state.

The individual state tournament will take place from June 1-3 at Nielsen Stadium in Madison. State seeding will take place on May 26.

Pulaski, Shawano girls soccer teams learn first playoff opponents

The Pulaski and Shawano girls soccer teams learned their first postseason opponents after the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association released postseason brackets recently.

Both teams are part of the same Division 2 playoff pod.

Pulaski earned a No. 3 seed and will open postseason action by hosting No. 14 Beaver Dam at 7 p.m. May 30 in Pulaski.

If Pulaski tops Beaver Dam, it would next host either No. 11 Green Bay Southwest or No. 6 Slinger on June 3.

Shawano is the No. 13 seed in the bracket and will head to No. 4 Nicolet at 6 p.m. May 30.

Pulaski, Bonduel softball teams win regional semifinals

The Pulaski and Bonduel softball teams both earned regional semifinal playoff wins on May 23, while five other area teams were eliminated after losses.

Third-seeded Pulaski rolled to a 15-0 win over 14th-seeded Green Bay West/East in Pulaski. Top-seeded Bonduel eased to a 17-2 victory over eighth-seeded Crandon in Bonduel.

Pulaski takes 3rd at golf regional to qualify for sectionals

The Pulaski High School boys golf team qualified for sectionals after placing third at the Division 1 Notre Dame Regional on May 23 at Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg.

Pulaski posted a team score of 334, finishing behind De Pere (298) and Bay Port (324). Notre Dame (335) placed fourth to also advance to sectionals as a team.

Shawano placed eighth at the regional with a mark of 403. No individual golfers from Shawano were able to qualify for sectionals.

No. 1 doubles teams from Shawano, Pulaski advance

Shawano and Pulaski's No. 1 doubles teams each extended their tennis seasons after earning a win at the Division 1 Notre Dame Subsectional on May 22 in Green Bay.

Shawano's George Buerman and Tristan Sheldon earned a victory over Green Bay Preble to move on. They will face off against a duo from Bay Port at the Notre Dame Sectional on May 25.

Pulaski's Eric Sperduto and Jacob Ebent earned a win over Green Bay Southwest to advance. The Red Raider pair will take on a No. 1 doubles team from Notre Dame at the sectional meet.

Pulaski boys tennis team falls to Sheboygan South

The Pulaski High School boys tennis team dropped a Fox River Classic Conference match to Sheboygan South on May 16 in Pulaski.

Pulaski won all of the doubles matches, but wasn't able to claim any singles matches in a 4-3 setback.

Jacob Ebent and Eric Sperduto formed Pulaski's No. 1 doubles team and dominated on their way to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Alex Kouzov and Hector Alcaide Pinedo enjoyed a similar fate at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-2, 6-2.

Pulaski's Raymond Johnson and Jeffrey Sanders were awarded a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.

Pulaski girls 6th, boys 9th at FRCC track meet

The Pulaski High School girls track and field team scored 63½ points to place sixth at the Fox River Classic Conference Meet on May 16 in Green Bay. The Pulaski boys scored 31½ points and placed ninth.

Jack Marsh led Pulaski with a first-place finish in the boys discus. He had a top throw of 164 feet, 5 inches. Marsh placed third in the shot put (48-5½).

The girls 4x200-meter relay team of Rachael Allen, Lily Urben, Grace Goodness and Olivia Sprangers claimed second place in 1 minute, 45.11 seconds.

Sprangers took third individually in the 100 (12.56).

Oconto Falls, Pulaski tie for 3rd at golf invitational

May 12 proved to be another busy day for area high school boys golf teams.

The Oconto Falls and Pulaski boys golf teams each tied for third place at the Stu Anderson Invitational at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls.

Lena and Gillett competed at a Marinette and Oconto Conference meet at Hunter’s Glen Golf Club in Crivitz. Lena placed first, while Gillett came in fifth.

Little mistakes add up in Red Raiders’ loss

A couple little things cost the Pulaski High School baseball team during a 5-2 Fox River Classic Conference loss to Ashwaubenon on May 3 in Pulaski.

All five of Ashwaubenon’s runs came after errors or misplays in the field. Pulaski had five hits, drew six walks and had a runner reach on an error, but ended up stranding 10 runners on base.
