Roloff, Lowney lead Shawano at state track and field meet

The Shawano Community High School track and field teams enjoyed a strong day of competition at the Division 2 WIAA State Track and Field Championships on June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Juniors Isabel Roloff and Elliott Lowney led the way for the Hawks after claiming a second-place finish each. Roloff was second in the girls pole vault, while Lowney placed second in the boys 200-meter dash. Roloff cleared 11 feet, while Lowney posted a time of 22.16 seconds.

Shawano Community High School’s Isabel Roloff and Elliott Lowney each turned in second-place finishes during the Division 2 WIAA State Track & Field Championships on June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Roloff claimed second in the girls pole vault, while Lowney placed second in the boys 200-meter dash. Roloff cleared 11 feet, while Lowney posted a time of 22.16 seconds.

Earlier in the day, Roloff also took fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.34. Lowney was seventh in the 400 with a mark of 50.98.

Shawano, Bonduel, Menominee Indian athletes eager for state track and field meets

Track and field athletes from Shawano, Bonduel and Menominee Indian are eager to end their spring seasons on high notes when competing at the WIAA 2021 State Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse this week.

Shawano will have four individuals and a pair of relay teams, while Menominee Indian has one individual competing in the Division 2 meet June 25. Bonduel will have a relay team and one individual compete in the Division 3 meet June 24.

The Shawano and Menominee Indian track and field teams each qualified athletes for the state meet after competing at the Division 2 Fox Valley Lutheran Sectional in Appleton.

The sectional started on June 17 but had to be competed June 18 after adverse weather came through the area.

The qualifiers will participate in the state meet on June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

The Shawano Community High School cross-country teams have experienced a number of memorable moments over the past couple of years, and Lydia Beyer has been a big part of that success.

Beyer is now competing in her senior season and hoping to not only help her team achieve more good memories, but also be a leader for her teammates.

Beyer opened the season with a fourth-place individual finish at the team’s Bay Conference dual against Menasha on Aug. 27 in Shawano. The Shawano girls team posted a perfect score on the night.
