Mountain health center announces extended summer hours

To meet the increased demand for care during the summer months, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Prevea Mountain Health Center, 14353 State Highway 32-64 in Mountain, will extend its hours of operation.

Starting in July and continuing until Aug. 30, the health center will remain open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

HSHS, Prevea Health workers get second dose of COVID vaccine

Prevea Health began administering second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Jan. 6 to its health care workers, along with those at its HSHS hospital partners in Wisconsin. The second dose, which is required for maximum effectiveness (94%) of the vaccine, is given 21 days after the first dose.

Hospital restricts visitors during COVID-19 surge

In an effort to further control the spread of COVID-19 into hospitals as well as throughout communities, Hospital Sisters Health System updated visitor policies at its eastern Wisconsin hospitals.

Affected facilities include HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls.

No visitors are being allowed in in-patient units, except for:

• Women and infants may have one support person and one doula as a part of their care team. They must stay in the patient room at all times.

HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay have each received a 2020 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for achieving and sustaining excellence in clinical quality.

Nonprofits help Gillett HS upgrade weight room

Grants from two local nonprofits are funding an upgrade of the Gillett Secondary School weight room.

The Bond Community Center Foundation provided $10,000, and HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital provided $3,500 for the new equipment, Superintendent Todd Henscik said.

The Gillett School Board accepted the grants with thanks at its July 16 meeting.

The board also approved the sale of the old weight room equipment to supplement the upgrade.

Bond grants support St. Clare programs

HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital has announced receipt of grants from the Leon H. and Clymene M. Bond Foundation Inc. that will support the Nurse’s Nook program and mobile mammography services in Oconto County.

“We are immensely grateful to the Bond Foundation for their generous support of these programs which are critical to the health and well-being of so many throughout this region,” said Chris Brabant, the hospital’s president and CEO. “We applaud their philanthropic efforts and dedication to the growth and improvement of Oconto County and its surrounding areas.”
