Roloff, Lowney lead Shawano at state track and field meet

The Shawano Community High School track and field teams enjoyed a strong day of competition at the Division 2 WIAA State Track and Field Championships on June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Juniors Isabel Roloff and Elliott Lowney led the way for the Hawks after claiming a second-place finish each. Roloff was second in the girls pole vault, while Lowney placed second in the boys 200-meter dash. Roloff cleared 11 feet, while Lowney posted a time of 22.16 seconds.

Gillett’s Schaal wins D3 girls’ discus state title

Gillett Secondary School senior Karissa Schaal won the girls discus competition to highlight the day for area athletes and relay teams at the Division 3 WIAA State Track & Field Championships on June 24 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Schaal saved her best for last, recording a throw of 122 feet, 11 inches on her final throw in the discus finals. The mark secured the state title and also established a new school record.

Shawano, Bonduel, Menominee Indian athletes eager for state track and field meets

Track and field athletes from Shawano, Bonduel and Menominee Indian are eager to end their spring seasons on high notes when competing at the WIAA 2021 State Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse this week.

Shawano will have four individuals and a pair of relay teams, while Menominee Indian has one individual competing in the Division 2 meet June 25. Bonduel will have a relay team and one individual compete in the Division 3 meet June 24.
