More measles cases reported in Oconto County

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and Oconto County Public Health have identified five more cases of measles in Oconto County.

The additional cases are linked to the nine cases confirmed in the county Aug. 2, which bring the total number of cases to 14. DHS is working with Oconto County and surrounding local public health departments to identify and directly notify people with known exposures.

Shawano-Menominee Court News

• Michelle E. Moutry, 36, Brussels, was charged Aug. 18 with felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor count of operating a motor vehicle while her license was revoked. Judge Katherine Sloma set a $250 cash bond and adjourned her initial appearance until Oct. 14.

Oconto County Court News

• Angela D. Hawkins, 38, Lena, pleaded no contest Aug. 21 to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. A related felony count was dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge levied fines and court costs and sentenced her to five days in jail time served.

Officials break ground at Marion Elementary School

The Marion School District broke ground Aug. 21 on an expansion project that will turn the K-6 Marion Elementary School into a K-8 school.

Construction work gets a look from commission

Work on renovating and expanding the Shawano Recreation Center is on track to be completed by June 2026, and the Shawano Park and Recreation Commission got to see how far things have progressed.
