SURING: DANCE AT SURING - Groninger Brothers are preparing for a grand dance to be held in their hall at Suring Thursday evening, Sept. 30. Hall’s orchestra will furnish the music.

OCONTO FALLS: The case of Albert Seppel against Ludwig Meyer was called Friday morning by Justice of the Peace Ryan. The action is brought for the recovery of money for work done on the late Ludwig Meyer farm which, it seems, Mr. Meyer refuses to pay. The plaintiff was represented by Attorney Lehner of this Village, while Attorney O’Keelegher of Oconto appeared for Meyer.

HICKORY: Arthur Phillips’ buggy collided with one of Dieck’s Brothers’ cars at Hickory Corners Saturday night. The buggy was badly damaged, only one wheel being left. The front of the car was also badly damaged. Mr. Phillips escaped with a few bruises. No one in the car was injured, and the horse was unhurt.

OCONTO FALLS: Postmaster Levi Lane, who has so satisfactorily conducted the local post office during the past four years and whose term expired last spring, has received his appointment and commission for another term, and will continue to manage the affairs of the office at least until 1923.

GILLETT: Fire destroyed the large barn on the Arthur Connell farm one mile west of Gillett last Friday evening.

PULCIFER: Arthur Wolfgram, who for the past century has been a respected citizen of Pulcifer, passed away at the family home on Friday, Sept 21. Mr. Wolfgram had been in ill health for the past three months.

OCONTO FALLS: Truman John, foreman of the Falls Canning Company, is having a house erected on Main Street north, just across from the canning factory.

OCONTO FALLS: The death of one of our eldelry citizens occurred last Sunday morning when Ferdinand April, 74, passed away at the home of his son-in-law Felix Coopman.

KELLY LAKE: Mrs. Glen Scott broke her arm last Thursday while cranking the family car.

KLONDIKE: Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ammerman announced the birth of their daughter, Joyce Marie, at the William Ammerman home Monday.

OCONTO FALLS: Charles Muenster of this city has enrolled with DeForest’s Training Inc. of Chicago for a course in radio, sound, and television.

PULCIFER: A former pastor and missionary of Alsace-Lorraine, France, will become the pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Pulcifer, and Christus Lutheran Church, Hintz. The new pastor is the Rev. Marin F. Sengele.

WHITE CLAY LAKE: Fred Behnke has finished the job of building a new corn house at the home of Ervin Schmidt.

GILLETT: Mr. and Mrs. William Valley will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Sept. 27, with a high Mass at 8:30 in St. John’s Catholic Church.

SURING: Enrolled at Wisconsin College at River Falls this quarter is William H. Zemke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zemke of Suring.

SURING: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fonferek are the proud parents of a son, born Sept. 21 at the Oconto Falls Hospital.

GILLETT: Next Sunday will be the last Sunday in Gillett for Rev. Michael Bablitch as pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church.

STILES: Fire destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ozorowicz early Tuesday morning; no one was injured in the blaze.

GREEN VALLEY: Final rites for Mrs. Guy Davis, 87, were held Wednesday at the Advance Methodist Church. Mrs. Davis died Sept. 21 at Oconto Falls Hospital.

OCONTO COUNTY: Dr. Ira Kastenberg, Family Practice Physician, will join the Northern Oconto County Rural Health Initiative Project on Oct. 1, 1979. Dr. Kastenberg’s family centered medical practice will include office and hospital practice in Oconto Falls plus ambulatory health service at the Nicolet satellite clinic in Lakewood.

GILLETT: A cow that had wandered onto Highway 22 in the town of Gillett was killed at 5 a.m. Friday. The animal was struck by a car.

DE PERE: Scott Winkler, of Gillett, was recently awarded a scholarship from St. Norbert College.

GILLETT: Jacqueline Ann Winkler and Jeffery Allen Konop were married May 27, 1989. Attendants were Jill and Janelle Winkler, Brenda Denow, Lisa Johnson, Debbie Konop, Jodi Konop, Craig Paupare, Jeff Edler, Robert Johnson, Jeff and Jon Winkler.

GILLETT: Albert Kitzman, 77, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, following a lengthy illness. Albert was a former member of the Underhill Volunteer Fire Department and a former Oconto County deputy.

SURING: Dan Gardebrecht recently attended an orientation for new sales representatives of Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc. at the company’s research headquarters in Johnston, Iowa.

OCONTO FALLS: Shnort, a 3-year-old basset hound belonging to Mickey and Dick Marquardt, was “Top Dog” in the Sept. 24 pet walk sponsored by Bay Area Humane Society.

OCONTO FALLS: The Oconto Falls City Council passed a new ordinance on Parental Responsibility of Minors, which allows fines on the parent or guardian for law violations of the minor.

MOUNTAIN: Six fire companies were called out on Wednesday evening, Sept. 15, to battle a blaze that started in the old Olson and Co. grocery store on the corner of Highway 32 and W in downtown Mountain.

OCONTO FALLS: The Oconto Falls football players have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for children’s hospitals, to raise money toward the cause called Buy a Football – Help a Child.

OCONTO FALLS: Oconto Falls native Shawn Witt was instrumental in creating likenesses of band members featured in a new music video game called The Beatles: Rock Band.

GILLETT: Gillett School District received a cash award of nearly $150,000 as part of its settlement in a class action lawsuit between Microsoft and various purchasers of Microsoft software throughout Wisconsin.

PULASKI: Pulaski School District residents rejected a proposed tax levy hike of 12 percent at the district’s annual meeting Sept. 16.
