OCONTO: TEACHER GETS JUDGEMENT - Judgement in the sum of $112.50 in favor of Miss Carrie Ingram against the city was rendered last Friday by Justice J.A. DonLevy. The plaintiff sued the city for wages due her on her school teacher contract.

OCONTO FALLS: Frank Peterson of Peterson Hardware Company met with a painful accident while demonstrating some farm equipment. His mittens were caught in the machine he was working on. He lost his thumb and first finger.

MORGAN: Peter Coopman, resident of Morgan, passed away last week. He had been a resident of the town of Morgan for the past decade after immigrating from Belgium.

OCONTO: Charged with the theft of mail pouches at Oconto, Warren Duncan, 36, of Oconto, was taken into custody at Green Bay on Nov. 27 by Post Office Inspector Jack W. Stahl, Chicago, following an investigation. Officials said that several checks were included in the contents and pouches were found on Duncan‘s person following the arrest.

MARINETTE: On Oct. 23 an airplane with the nose spouting flame is reported to have gone down in Green Bay near Marinette. Game Warden F.W. Fisher spotted an object on Wednesday and reported the find to the Coast Guard. The object stood 8 to 9 feet out of the water and in Fisher’s opinion resembled an airplane wing.

PULCIFER: Mr. and Mrs. Silas Darling from Pulcifer are the proud parents of a little son born Nov. 27.

LENA: St. Charles Church at Lena was the scene of a pretty wedding on Thursday morning, Nov. 26, when the Rev. Father Fox united in marriage Miss Genevieve Pelishek and Richard Cochenet.

DEGANTOWN: Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis over the arrival of a son at the Oconto Falls Hospital on Sunday.

OCONTO FALLS: The John Arndt residence in the first ward was badly damaged by fire early Monday morning.

SURING: Helen Anderson and Oliver Bogsted were married Nov. 12 at the Suring Methodist Church.

GILLETT: Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Closser celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary at their home on Thanksgiving Day with their children and grandchildren.

GILLETT: Candles illuminated the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Saturday, Nov. 21 for the marriage of Miss Marcella Buckholz and Jerry Jacobson.

OCONTO FALLS: Kenneth F. Young, SA, USOG, has completed 13 weeks of basic training at the U.S. Coast Guard Receiving Center, Cape May, New Jersey.

HAYES: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterman are grandpa and grandma again. Their daughter Leah has another little boy.

OCONTO: Pfc. Charles Ross DeWindt, 21, returned from Vietnam to attend the funeral of his father, who died at Oconto Memorial Hospital of malaria.

KELLY LAKE: Sara, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Streblow, underwent a tonsillectomy at the Falls.

GILLETT: Michael Lewicki, seventh-grade student, received a $25 check from Owen VandenHeuvel, president of the Gillett Businessmen’s Association, for designing the organization’s logo.

OCONTO: Mr. John J. Moes was appointed executive director at NEWCAP Inc.

ABRAMS: Thomas Neta, 50, Green Bay, was cutting trees for firewood when a partially cut tree got hung up among some others. Neta started cutting down another tree when the partially cut tree fell on him and killed him.

OCONTO FALLS: Melvin and Lillian Patenaude celebrated their golden anniversary. They were married Oct. 28, 1939.

GILLETT: Ryan Brock, Gillett High School alum, received the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri.

MOUNTAIN : LaVerne Haase, 59, owner of Haase Bar and Hotel in Mountain, died peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Dec. 4, 1994.

OCONTO FALLS: Marine Cpl. Robert D. Stevens was recently promoted to his present rank while serving with Combat Support Group, Okinawa, Japan.

OCONTO FALLS: Jim Blazek, a long-time worker at Oconto Falls High School, was congratulated by School Board President Ron Leja on his achievement of 25 years of service to the district.

GILLETT: Kenneth Schneider, 69, died Nov. 22, 1999. He drove school bus in the Gillett School District for 22 years.

OCONTO FALLS: The Oconto Falls City Council approved an increase in the tax levy of $937,379, or 2.9 percent for next year.

LAKEWOOD: The former Best Western in Lakewood has been renovated and opened Tuesday as Lakewood Assisted Living, the only assisted living center within 50 miles, said Kathy Tegen, CEO of BAKA Enterprises, which will manage the new facility.
