Sports: Kelsey Resch scored her 1,000th point and received a standing ovation from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls basketball fans. Only three girls in WBHS history have achieved this. Cassie Bauch reached a career total of 1,154 points, and Katie Betry reached 1,073 points.

Tech. Sgt. Martin C. Helke, who was married to Miss Nelida Jacobson in Glencoe, Illinois, last September, died from wounds in an Army hospital in England. His wife, here on a visit with her mother, Mrs. Nels Jacobson, was notified from Washington on Sunday.

A basket social is to be given at Gosh’s Hall in Elderon next Wednesday, March 16, under the auspices of and for the benefit of the Boy Scouts of Elderon. Ladies please bring your baskets, and, men, please bring your pocketbooks.

There will be a grand Easter dance at Kersten’s Hall Monday evening, March 28. Music by Turecek’s five-piece orchestra. Tickets 90 cents plus 10 cents war tax.

I have just received a new display of Easter hats and trimmings. Ladies wishing to have their hats polished and re-trimmed before Easter will please come early. Mrs. Ed Guerin.
