Two new businesses will be opening later this year in the Wittenberg area. A new gas station/convenience store is being constructed on U.S. Highway 45 north of Wittenberg by the Wisconsin Winnebago Nation. A new lumber mill is being constructed just south of the convenience store by Ort Lumber Company.

Judy Wogsland was crowned queen of the Ice Carnival at the Homme Home for Boys on Sunday.
School news: Kay Gjermundson and Mary Peterson have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
Badger Theatre: “Yellow Rose of Texas” stars Roy Rogers, “King of the Cowboys,” Dale Evans, the Sons of the Pioneers and Trigger, the smartest horse in the movies.

Henry Cappel plans on making extensive improvements to his store.
Roger Schmidt of Gresham, recently discharged after four years of service in the Army, began work as an assistant at the Smith Funeral Home in Wittenberg.
The results of the ping-pong schedule at St. Paul’s Parochial are as follows: boys champion, Robert Simonson; girls champion, Patsy Hanke; eighth grade, Jack Zeinert and Jean Zeinert; seventh grade, Robert Simonson; sixth grade, Ronald Drews and Julane Bloecher.

White Lake upsets Wittenberg 47-40 in basketball tournament play.
The Boy Scouts accumulated four tons of scrap paper last week and wish to thank the public for their fine cooperation in the drive. They will collect white paper the last Saturday of the coming months.
