The stores in Wittenberg will be closed on Good Friday, March 30, from noon until 3 o’clock in the afternoon, following the usual custom of the past years.

The local volunteer fire department was called out about midnight last night to help put out a small blaze caused by a short circuit at Reed’s Restaurant.

Many high school districts in the state are consolidating.

The principals of the Wolf River Conference schools held their regular spring meeting. The possibility of football being adopted as a conference sport was discussed. Perhaps the future will provide football for Wittenberg. Perhaps some citizen with money to spare will provide the initial equipment.

The north is up in arms because of Governor Goodland’s recent veto of a legislative bill that would have restored the $20 wolf bounty payments that prevailed for years.

One of the most active units of the Junior Red Cross in Marathon County is that of the Elderon State Graded School at Elderon.

During the heavy electric storm that swept this section of the state Saturday evening, lightning struck the spire of St. Paul’s German Lutheran Church and set it afire.

Kersten’s Movies: “The Woman in Grey” stars Arline Pretty.

The Ladies’ Aid of St. Paul’s Church will give an apron sale and supper at the old millinery stand in the I.O.O.F. building on the afternoon of Election Day, April 5. Supper starts at 4:30 p.m.
