Witt-Birn Superintendent: New school year just around the corner

Greetings and welcome to the start of the 2021-22 school year. It is with great anticipation and excitement for the new school year that I hope this letter finds you in.

We are eagerly looking forward to getting back to school as we have known it to be, with all the opportunities and events that our students take part in and that our district and communities embrace.

As we prepare for the arrival of our students, many upgrades are currently taking place throughout the district in our buildings and grounds with the intent to provide them with an even more engaging experience.

New playground structures have been added to both of the elementary schools, new LED lighting put in place in all of our hallways and corridors, remodeled and new bathroom facilities have been completed at the high school and we have expanded our one-to-one chrome book resources to all students in grades 1-12. These are just some of the changes that have occurred over the course of the summer.

The 2021-22 school year calendar is available and can be downloaded from our school website. Our school days will be back to normal pickup and drop-off times, with the exception of most Fridays.

Students will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays to allow for staff professional learning community time. On these days from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m., staff will work collaboratively on the generative and important work of assessing student performance, developing team plans designed to assist our students with additional support needed to close achievement gaps and come together as teams that take ownership of all our students’ growth as both learners and productive citizens.

Finally, I hope that you are all finding time to enjoy the summer and spend much of it with those friends and family that you look forward to sharing your time with. It is so important to find that balance that allows us to be both productive and happy. Come Sept. 1, we will be ready here at Wittenberg-Birnamwood schools to do just that for every child that walks through our doors.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Enjoy the rest of your summer and please don’t hesitate to stop by or call if there is anything we can be of assistance with.
