Witt-Birn boys cross-country team 2nd, girls 3rd at invite

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys cross-country team posted a score of 57 to place second at the Rosholt Invite on Oct. 1 in Rosholt. The Witt-Birn girls came in third with a score of 92.

Tommy Bruski completed the course in 17 minutes, 35.1 seconds to take fifth as an individual and lead the Witt-Birn boys. Wyatt Dickman (18:03.55) placed seventh.

Simon Schairer (18:13.78), Craig Wendel (18:23.86) and Ian Salveson (18:59.56) rounded out the boys team score, taking 12th, 14th and 19th, respectively.

Ruby Nowinsky was the girls top finisher, coming in 15th with a time of 23:09.7.

Annika Resch (24:45.06) took 22nd, while Lauren Dombeck (26:35.21) was 28th. Ava Wepner (28:40.56) and Amelia Bessert (29:15.86) were the team's other two runners, claiming 34th and 37th, respectively.

Marion also competed in the invite. The boys team placed eighth, while the girls didn't qualify for a team score.

Isaiah Gueths (19:39.25) was the boys top finisher, placing 27th. Jaden Stuhr (20:37.29) claimed 39th. Jesse Trebus (22:36.03), Jackson Krohn (22:52.81) and Jack VanKooy (28:23.94) capped the team score, finishing 53rd, 55th and 63rd, respectively.

Three Marion girls competed, with Claire Dow (26:30.22) leading the way with a 27th-place finish. Kelsey Zillmer (29:05.11) and Haiyle Larson (29:17.98) were the other two runners, claiming 36th and 38th, respectively.
