Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School’s Emma Herb was named to the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division first team after a strong senior season on the basketball court.

In the team’s four conference games, Herb averaged a double-double, tallying 17.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.

“It feels good and I am happy that my work has paid off for others to notice. Being my senior season, it is a good way to go out on a high note,” said Herb.

The all-conference honor was the fourth of Herb’s strong high school career.

As a freshman, she was an honorable mention. She was a first team selection as a sophomore and unanimous first team selection as a junior.

For the season, Herb held averages of 16.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

She scored her 1,000th career point during a nonconference victory over Marathon on Dec. 29.

“I am going to remember how great it feels winning a big game and having played good both individually and as a team,” said Herb of what she’d remember most about playing high school basketball. “I’ve made some great teammates over the years and I’ll miss suiting up with them.”

Witt-Birn sophomore Reese Rogowski picked up her first career all-conference honor, being named to the honorable mention team.

Rogowski averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.8 steals across the team’s four CWC-East contests.

“I was happy to be selected for that award,” said Rogowski. “This honor motivates me because I know that I have to continue to work harder for us to to reach the goals that we are striving for next year.”

For the season, Rogowski averaged 13.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

Witt-Birn finished 2-2 in its conference clashes this winter. The Chargers finished the regular season at 11-2 before earning a playoff win over Clintonville and then being eliminated by Amherst in a regional title game.

The Chargers last CWC-East game of the season was on Jan. 8. The team only played one game between Jan. 19-Feb. 11.

Bonduel’s Kara Troxel was the conference’s Player of the Year. Bonduel’s Jerry Reinke was the Coach of the Year after leading the Bears to a perfect conference record and title.
