Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis an AP All-America selection

Wisconsin Badgers basketball star Johnny Davis was named to The Associated Press All-America men’s basketball team on March 15.

Davis earned 57 first-place votes and 294 points to earn his first-team spot. Only Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe (59 first-place votes, 298 points) had more.

The Wisconsin sophomore heads into the NCAA Tournament with season averages of 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and has led the Badgers to a 24-7 overall record.

The La Crosse native became the third Wisconsin player ever to make the first team, joining Alando Tucker (2007) and Frank Kaminsky (2015).

Third-seeded Wisconsin opens the NCAA Tournament against No. 14 seed Colgate at 8:50 p.m. on March 18.
