Volleyball: Witt-Birn has strong showing at invite

EDGAR — The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School volleyball team posted a 3-1 record at the Edgar Invite on Saturday.

Witt-Birn topped Rib Lake (25-11, 25-11) before losing to Auburndale (12-25, 25-22, 15-9). The Chargers bounced back with wins over Bruce (25-10, 25-4) and Edgar (25-22, 25-21)

Marissa Groshek led Witt-Birn with eight attack kills against Rib Lake, while Abi Fraaza had seven. McKenna Metropulos led the team with 15 assists, while Elizabeth Muscha had six aces.

In the setback to Auburndale, Fraaza totaled 15 total kills, while Metropulos had 13 assists. Emma Herb contributed three block kills.

Herb had six attack kills, while Metropulos tallied 13 assists in the victory over Bruce. Nicole Kielman served five aces, while McKenna Foster had four and Amara Schoepke three.

Fraaza again led the team in kills against Edgar, tallying 11. Groshek and Herb each added five attack kills, while Kaitlyn Clark had four block kills. Metropulos contributed 21 assists and three block kills.
