Volleyball: Oconto Falls goes 2-3 at invite

Panthers play several tight matches

PULASKI — The Oconto Falls High School volleyball team earned a 2-3 record and took sixth place while competing in the Pulaski Red Raider Invite on Saturday.

In bracket play, Oconto Falls lost to West De Pere (24-26, 25-21, 15-13), topped Green Bay NEW Lutheran (25-23, 17-25, 15-13) and fell to Kewaskum (23-25, 25-15, 15-12). The Panthers then defeated Houghton (Michigan) 25-22, 25-19 before falling 18-25, 25-23, 15-10 to West De Pere in the fifth-place match.

In the first matchup with West De Pere, Jayden Arndt led Oconto Falls with seven attack kills, while Natalie Brauer had five and Amelia Rice and Samantha Coron four each. Emmie Magnin served three aces, Karlie Kowalczyk tallied five digs and Coron had 20 assists.

In the win over NEW Lutheran, Brauer had 12 attack kills and Arndt chipped in six. Coron had 17 assists, eight digs and three aces, Brauer tallied 15 digs and Hailey Peitersen posted nine assists.

Against Kewaskum, Brauer led the team with 10 attack kills, while Arndt had six and Magnin five. Brauer recorded 14 digs, while Coron had 11 digs and 21 assists.

Brauer finished with 14 digs and six attack kills against Houghton, while Arndt had five total blocks. McKayla Goebel and Taylor Ash tallied eight and seven digs, respectively, while Coron had 14 assists.

In the second match with West De Pere, Rice served three aces. Brauer contributed 11 kills and nine digs, while Coron had 15 assists, 10 digs and seven attack kills. Peitersen chipped in with eight assists, while Kowalczyk had six digs.
