Volleyball: Falls finishes 3rd at own invite

OCONTO FALLS — The Oconto Falls High School volleyball team earned a 4-1 record to take second place at the Oconto Falls Panther Invite on Saturday.

Oconto Falls topped Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran (26-24, 25-22), Kewaunee (25-23, 26-24) and Freedom (29-27, 18-25, 15-12) in pool play. In bracket play, the Panthers lost to Denmark (25-13, 25-23), but bounced back with a win over N.E.W. Lutheran (27-25, 25-13) in the third-place match.

In the pool play match against N.E.W. Lutheran, Natalie Brauer and Jayden Arndt each finished with eight attack kills for the Panthers, while Kari Albrecht had six. Samantha Coron totaled 15 assists, seven digs and three aces, while Hailey Peitersen had eight assists and Abbi Remic nine digs.

Against Kewaunee, Arndt had nine attack kills, while Brauer had six. Remic led the team with seven digs and Coron had a team-leading 18 assists.

Coron posted 23 assists in the win over Freedom, primarily setting up Brauer, Arndt, Albrecht and Amelia Rice, who finished with 10, nine, seven and five attack kills, respectively. Remic had 16 digs.

Coron finished with eight digs and 11 assists in the loss to Denmark, while Remic had seven digs and Karlie Kowalczyk six. Brauer posted seven attack kills.

Brauer also led Oconto Falls in its final match of the day, tallying six attack kills against N.E.W. Lutheran. Remic, Rice and Peitersen all served two aces, while Coron and Remic each had six digs. Coron led the team with 13 assists.

Oconto Falls ends the regular season on the road against Wrightstown on Thursday.
