Unique pattern highlights 371st barn quilt

Shawano County’s latest barn quilt, No. 371, is now on display at W1042 Main Laney Drive, Pulaski.

It is adjacent to Laney Cheese and is easily visible from state Highway 29. Sponsored by Phil Przybylinski and Alexi Charneski, the name of the quilt pattern is Eminent Discovery.

The design of the quilt pattern includes pine trees which can be seen emerging along and throughout the property among surrounding farm fields. In the center of the quilt is the legend that goes by many names — Sasquatch, Big Foot, Great Tracker, Secluded Tribe and others.

As the sponsors are believers of this amazing species, they wanted to encourage viewers to embody the ways of Sasquatch of being one with nature and go exploring, because you never know what you will discover. Przybylinski and Charneski, who are avid outdoors people, encourage everyone to explore the area’s natural beauty. Who knows? You might even run into Sasquatch.

Przybylinski bought his two-acre plot in 2018 and has worked at bringing it back to its original charm with the help of friends and family. The barn was built around 1900 by George Hansen and is one of the original homesteads in Laney. One of the best-known previous owners of the property, though, was Halder Erikson, who was well known for his great love of gardening. His gardens still get talked about to this day.

The barn quilt sponsors are paying homage to Erikson by gardening, clearing the property and discovering some of Erikson’s old garden patches. There are multiple fruit trees and berries on the property and many more waiting to be discovered.

Przybylinski and Charneski encourage passersby to stop and see their unique barn quilt.

The quilt was painted by the Shawano County Barn Quilt Committee and was put on display by LeRoy Raddant and his grandson, Keenan, both of whom work for Raddant Electric in Shawano.
