GIRLS BASKETBALL
Gillett could not overcome a slow start in a season-opening nonconference loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Thursday in Wittenberg.
Aubrey DeBauch finished with 19 points to pace Gillett, which trailed 30-5 late in the first half.
Karissa Schaal scored nine points for the Tigers, while Sydney Young had eight.

Lena 36
Lena couldn’t keep pace with Gresham in a nonconference matchup on Thursday in Gresham.
Kennedy Marquardt scored 17 points to lead Lena on the court.
Rosholt 58
Suring 49
Suring slipped to 1-1 overall after dropping a nonconference road game at Rosholt on Thursday.
Kylee Stelzer and Kelsey Smith each posted double-doubles for Suring. Stelzer had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Kelsey Smith finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
