Gillett came up short in a tournament clash with Menominee (Mich.) on Saturday in Gillett.

Karissa Schaal scored 15 points to lead Gillett on the court. Aubrey DeBauch added 11 points, while Camryn Long had nine.

Menominee outscored Gillett 33-22 in the first half. The Tigers struggled at the free throw line for a second straight night, making just nine of their 20 attempts.

WRESTLING

Whiting's top finish leads Oconto Falls at classic

Oconto Falls' Clayton Whiting posted a 6-0 record to win the 160-pound weight class at the two-day Bi-State Classic that wrapped up Saturday in La Crosse. The Panthers came in eighth place amongst 25 Division 2 schools competing, scoring 113.5 points.

Whiting won by pin three times over two-day classic. He also won once by technical fall, once by sudden victory and a earned a 9-2 decision win in the first-place match.

Brendan Konitzer turned in a fifth-place finish in the 113 weight class. He had a bye to open the classic before posting a 5-2 record the rest of the way.

Aidan Stary came in seventh for the Panthers in the 170 weight class. Stary posted a 6-2 record over the classic.

Misco places 10th, leads Lena at classic

Lena’s Luke Misco (106) turned in a 10th-place finish at the two-day Lourdes on the Water Classic that wrapped up Saturday in Oshkosh.

Misco was victorious in five of his eight matches over the tournament. He earned 21.5 points for the Wildcats.

Lena scored 39.5 points as a team to tie for 54th place out of 67 competing teams.
