Friedman, Fifield lead way at invitational

Oconto Falls High School graduates and current UW-Stout cross-country runners Michael Friedman and Mike Fifield finished first and second, respectively, at the Falcon Invitational in River Falls on Friday.

Friedman's first-place finish came in 25 minutes, 49.9 seconds, while Fifield finished in 26:51.2.

UW-Stout won the invitational with the top-five finishers in the race.

Coron helps UWO to strong start

Oconto Falls grad and current UW-Oshkosh volleyball player Shelby Coron has made an impact during the team's 5-2 start to the season.

UWO competed in the Colorado College Classic on Aug. 30 and 31, finishing 2-2. Coron had two kills and four digs in a win over Millsaps College (Mississippi), four kills against Edgewood College, five kills in a setback to Clarkson University (New York) and three more kills in a loss to Colorado College.

Oshkosh went 3-0 at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic on Friday and Saturday. Coron tallied six kills against Oswego State (New York), four against Wisconsin Lutheran College and two more in a sweep of Martin Luther College (Minnesota).

Through Sunday and the team's seven games, Coron has accumulated 26 kills, 11 digs and 12 total blocks.
