Wyoming

Oconto Falls graduate and current Wyoming wrestler Dewey Krueger placed seventh in the 157-pound weight class at the Big 12 Championships, which ran March 7 and 8 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Krueger wrestled four matches on March 7. Krueger opened the tournament with a 2-1 decision win before dropping an 11-5 decision in the quarterfinals. Moving into the consolation bracket, Krueger stayed alive with a win by pin before dropping a match by pin in his second consolation match.

On March 8, Krueger earned a 7-5 decision win in the seventh-place match.

St. Norbert

Oconto Falls graduate Mason Sefcik pitched and recorded an out for the St. Norbert baseball team in its season-opening 7-0 loss to Millikin University on March 7 at the Millikin University Tournament in Decatur, Illinois.

St. Norbert won its two other games at the tournament, which ran through March 8.

UW-Eau Claire

Suring graduate Mitch Stegeman — a member of the UW-Eau Claire track and field team — placed fourth in the men's heptathlon at the Wartburg Qualifier on March 6 and 7 in Waverly, Iowa.

Stegeman was the top finisher in the pole vault (14 feet, 11 inches). He came in fourth in the 1,000-meter run (2 minutes, 52.87 seconds) and fifth in the shot put (35-10).

The freshman placed sixth in the 60 hurdles (9.05), seventh in the high jump (5-10.75), 10th in the 60 dash (7.62) and 12th in the long jump (18-9.75).
