UW-Stout

Oconto Falls graduates Mike Friedman and Michael Fifield ended their cross-country seasons at UW-Stout competing in the NCAA Division III Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.

Friedman was the team’s top finisher, placing 53rd as an individual with a time of 25 minutes, 8.9 seconds. Fifield came in 187th with a time of 25:59.9. Stout took 21st as a team.

The senior duo turned in top-35 finishes at the NCAA Division III Midwest Championship in Winneconne to help the team place fifth. Friedman took 25th with a time of 25:25.8, while Fifield came in 34th with a mark of 25:32.2.

Wyoming

Oconto Falls graduate Dewey Krueger is off to a strong start to his senior season of wrestling at Wyoming.

As of Friday, Krueger owned a 13-7 record competing in the 157- and 165-pound weight classes.

Krueger won the 157-pound weight class at the 2019 Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 15. Krueger was named the Most Outstanding Wrestling of the tournament and helped the team to a first-place finish. His strong tournament showing also garnered him the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honor.

UW-Oshkosh

Oconto Falls graduate Shelby Coron turned in a strong junior season to help the UW-Oshkosh volleyball team to a 21-10 season.

Coron, a junior, played in all 31 matches, totaling 193 kills, 78 total blocks and 108 digs.

Her 249 points topped her output as a freshman (227.5 points) and sophomore (166).

Carroll

Oconto Falls graduate Sam Shallow has played in a pair of games for the Carroll University women’s basketball so far this season.

Shallow scored two points while also recording a steal and assist in a win over Holy Family College on Nov. 26.

In a win over St. Norbert on Nov. 20, Shallow contributed four points and three rebounds. She hit her first collegiate 3-pointer in the contest.

Oconto Falls graduate Aaron Kurth turned in a top-10 finish to start the indoor track and field season.

At the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invite on Dec. 7, Kurth took ninth in the 60-meter dash preliminaries to qualify for the finals, where he took 10th.

Ripon

Suring graduate Ryan Mahoney has appeared in three games for the Ripon College men’s basketball team this season.

Mahoney hit three free throws and grabbed a rebound in a loss to UW-Stevens Point on Dec. 14. The sophomore converted his only field goal attempt in a win over Beloit on Dec. 4.

St. Norbert

Oconto Falls graduate Aaron Gonnering opened his freshman season of track and field at St. Norbert competing in two events at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invite on Dec. 7.

Gonnering came in 34th in the 60- and 200-meter dashes.
