Carroll

Oconto Falls High School graduate Aaron Kurth won a pair of events while competing for the Carroll University men's track and field team at the Dick Hendricks Invitational on Feb. 15 in Ripon.

Kurth won the 60-meter dash in 7.02 seconds after having the top time in the preliminary (7.11). He also won the 200 dash with a time of 23.27 seconds.

Those finishes helped Kurth land his first Pioneer Athlete of the Week honor.

Fellow Oconto Falls graduate Sam Shallow scored a point on a free throw during the Carroll women's basketball team's 71-54 loss to Wheaton on Feb. 19.

UW-Whitewater

Oconto Falls graduate Evan Sigmund earned a win for the UW-Whitewater baseball team in the team's second game of the year.

Sigmund struck out two batters while surrendering a run over 1⅓ innings.

UWW scored six runs between the eighth and ninth innings to earn the win. Whitewater is 2-1 overall.

UW-Eau Claire

Suring graduate Mitch Stegeman participated in two events for the UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team at the St. Thomas Showcase on Feb. 14 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Stegeman placed fifth in the pole vault after clearing 4.42 meters. He also came in 25th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.55 seconds.

UW-Platteville

Oconto Falls graduate Catt Moeller earned a top-five finish in the pole vault during the UW-Platteville Invitational on Feb. 15 in Platteville.

Moeller cleared a height of 10 feet, 0.5 inches to place third. The height was the personal best in college for the freshman.

Wyoming

Oconto Falls graduate Dewey Krueger won his final collegiate home match during the Wyoming wrestling team's 22-11 dual win over Northern Colorado on Feb. 16.

Krueger, ranked No. 33 in the 157-pound weight class of the latest rankings from theopenmat.com, won a 6-1 decision. He scored five of the points in the final period.

UW-River Falls

Oconto Falls graduate Brent Wolf competed in three events for the UW-River Falls men's track and field team at the St. Thomas Showcase on Feb. 14.

Wolf was on the 4x400 relay team that placed second in 3:33.77.

The freshman also cleared a height of 1.65 meters in the high jump to place 11th. Wolf claimed 23rd in the 60 hurdles (9.48).

Concordia

Oconto Falls graduate Katelyn Albrecht saw her first collegiate action for the Concordia University softball team at the Finlandia University Dome Tournament on Feb. 15-16 in Marquette, Michigan.

Albrecht served as a pinch runner in a pair of games, scoring a run in the team's 10-0 win over Northland College on Feb. 15. She also pinch ran in the team's 8-0 win over UW-Superior on Feb. 16.

Concordia went 4-0 at the tournament.

St. Norbert

Oconto Falls graduate Emily Gonnering took part in two events for the St. Norbert women's track and field team at the Dick Hendricks Invitational on Feb. 15.

Gonnering was 46th in the shot put (7.07 meters) and weight throw (8.27 meters).

Ripon

Suring graduate Ryan Mahoney played a minute in each of the Ripon men’s basketball team's games over the past week.

Mahoney recorded a block in the team's 88-71 win over Lake Forest on Feb. 18. He missed his only shot attempt.

Mahoney also played a minute in the team's 70-56 win over Monmouth (Illinois) on Feb. 15.
