The Tigerton High School baseball team will be under the direction of a new coach this spring, but it still expects to be in the hunt for a conference title.

Beau Hoffman is the new coach, and he will have a pair of all-conference players back from the 2019 team that he can build around.

Now seniors, Isaac Schoen and Mitch Zimdars each landed on a Central Wisconsin Conference-North Division team in 2019. Schoen made the second team after serving as a utility player, while Zimdars was an honorable mention playing primarily catcher and third base.

Also back with plenty of varsity experience for the Tigers are senior Kaeden Miller (second base) and juniors Dawson Block (outfield) and Zeke Griepentrog (infield).

“We expect to compete for conference this season,” said Tigerton assistant coach Matt Herrbold of the team. “We face many of the same challenges other teams will have this year; some of our core players haven’t played baseball in several years.”

Sophomores Asher Michaelis, Ryder Graham and Colby Wanta are players who will help fill out the team’s lineup.

“Well, if we want to win conference, everyone would have to have the powerful drive that we need to achieve that goal,” said Schoen. “I believe we can do it, but everyone on the team needs to stay focused on that goal and refuse to lose.”
