Tate McMillan named new Pulaski baseball coach

Pulaski High School teacher Tate McMillan is the school’s new varsity baseball head coach.

He replaces Dennis Bogacz, who resigned following the season.

McMillan, a special education teacher, has been with the Pulaski Community School District since the 2019-20 school year. Prior to that, he taught at Lombardi Middle School in Green Bay from 2017-19. He served as head baseball coach at Green Bay Southwest at that time.

He also taught at Savannah Christian Preparatory School (Georgia) from 2012-15, where he was an assistant baseball coach. He also served as pitching coach at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, from 2010-12.

He earned a bachelor’s of science from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, in 2010. He also earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Lincoln Memorial University in 2012.

McMillan said he had been looking for a larger school district with a small-town feel, and he has found it in Pulaski.

PHS athletic director Janel Batten is excited with the hire.

“Tate has extensive knowledge of the game of baseball and has had many successful experiences playing the game (high school and college) and coaching,” said Batten. “Tate’s portfolio of coaching experience includes both head high school coaching as well as at the collegiate level. As an educator, Mr. McMillan relates well with young adults and has experience teaching fundamentals. We are fortunate to have coach McMillan lead our Red Raider baseball program into the future.”

McMillan is excited to take over the program. He said his team will play fast, with a lot of energy and will attack every day.

He is married to Brooke, a 2008 PHS graduate and former varsity softball player. They have three children: Elle, 6; Crew, 4; and Cain, 2.
