Suring gears up for Labor Day Celebration

Weekend culminates with Monday parade

SURING — For the 89th time, the village of Suring is pulling out the stops to celebrate the Labor Day weekend.

From the Friends of the Library book sale that launches Wednesday morning through the big parade Sunday morning, there’ll be plenty of activity in and around Veterans Memorial Park and downtown Suring.

Among the highlights:

- The book sale Wednesday through Saturday at the library, 604 E. Main St., and a rummage sale at Mount Olive Church 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday.

- 4x4 truck pull sanctioned by NEW Motorsports at 7 p.m. Friday.

- Craft sales and rummage sales along Ehlinger Street all day Saturday.

- The Conquer Suring Hill 5k/10k run/walk Saturday morning, with registration 7-8 a.m. and the race at 8:30 a.m.

- An antique and farm tractor pull at 2 p.m. Saturday.

- The all-class Suring High School reunion dinner at Red Maple Country Club starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.

- A demolition derby at noon Sunday

- The 89th annual Suring Labor Day Parade at 10 a.m. Monday, featuring grand marshals Russel and Barbara Brock, who will be honored at the park following a “fifth quarter” performance by the Pulaski Marching Band after the parade.

- Food, live music and children’s activities all weekend.
