Strong pitching highlights Dairyland play over holiday week

Pulaski earns thrilling win to remain undefeated

Pitching was the name of the game in the Dairyland League during the holiday week, with several individual efforts helping teams pick up wins.

Bonduel 7, Cecil 0

The Bonduel Broncos improved to 3-1 on the season after a shutout home win over the Cecil Mudhens on July 3.

Mitch Pleshek led the way for Bonduel, tossing a five-hit shutout to earn the win. He struck out 14 batters.

Luke Kostreva belted a three-run homer for the Broncos, while Jack Reinke had three hits and four RBIs.

Garrett Siolka led Cecil (0-4) with a pair of hits, while Brandon Hagel was handed the loss.

Pulaski 3, Nichols 2

The Pulaski Reds picked up a walk-off win over the Nichols Nitros on July 2 in Pulaski.

Nate Becher drove in Ethan Bemowski in the ninth inning to cap the win for Pulaski, which is now 4-0 overall.

Bemowski, Jarrett Olson and Luke Van Lanen had multiple hits for the Reds, while Van Lanen also earned the win on the hill after tossing four innings.

Nichols fell to 2-2 on the season.

Navarino 3, Waupaca 2

The Navarino Rangers held off the Waupaca Lakemen in a July 2 matchup in Waupaca.

Connor Rosin drove in all three Navarino (2-2) runs on a double in the first inning. Ryan Boettcher earned the win on the mound, striking out six batters in a complete game effort.

Waupaca scored both of its runs in the second frame.

Waupaca 13, Freedom 2

Waupaca improved to 3-1 in league play after easing past the Freedom Mets on Sunday in Waupaca.

Luke Behm homered and drove in four runs for Waupaca, while Johnny Popham and Brenden Canterbury each had two hits. Jason Ellie earned the win on the mound after tossing five innings. Jim Nighbor pitched the final two frames.

Brad Vosters and Ross Wolfgram each drove in a run for Freedom (1-3). Hunter Schabo and Jarrad Rettler pitched for the Mets.
