OCONTO — Nomination papers may be circulated beginning Sunday, Dec. 1, for the 2020 spring elections, which are scheduled to take place April 7.

Statewide, voters will be selecting a Supreme Court justice; Daniel Kelly is the current incumbent. Political parties will also be holding their presidential primary elections.

Locally, voters will be choosing all 31 members of the Oconto County Board and members of school board, city councils, village boards and town boards. The mayors of Oconto Falls, Gillett and Oconto will also be elected, along with municipal judges serving Oconto Falls, Lena, Suring and Oconto.

If more than two candidates are running for a position, a primary election will be held Feb. 18.

Candidates must submit a campaign registration statement and declaration of candidacy, along with appropriate nomination papers, by 5 p.m. Jan. 7 in the office of the responsible clerk.

Incumbents who are choosing not to run for re-election have until 5 p.m. Dec. 21 to file a Notification of Noncandicacy form; failure to do so will extend the deadline for filing nomination papers by 72 hours.

A list of seats on the ballot, with the current incumbents, can be found in the legal advertisement on Page 19 of this Oconto County Times Herald.
