Shawano girls cross country runners going to state

Shawano’s girls cross country team will return to the state tournament after capturing second place at the Division 2 sectional at Colby/Abbotsford.

Tomahawk won the event with 67 points, and Shawano had 68.

Bailey Hendricks led the Hawks, winning second place overall in 20:00.2.

She was followed by Adalyn Barkley in 10th place in 21:04.4, Maci Beyer in 12th place in 21:10.9, Anabelle Schroeder in 20th in 21:50.2 and Mikelah Powers in 24th in 22:01.2.

Teagan Powers placed 47th in 23:43.2, and Zoe Sipple was 51st in 24:08.7.

Oconto Falls’ Hailey Delzer qualified as an individual, as the Panthers placed third. Delzer was fourth overall in 20:12.7.

Also scoring for the Panthers (104 points) were Emma Meissner in 19th in 21:44.4, Brooke Hodkiewicz in 23rd in 21:59.3, Ava Hodkiewicz in 26th in 22:04.2 and Josie Holtz in 32nd in 22:24.9.

Mackenzie Lotto placed 36th in 22:48.9.

Urijah Reevis, running for Menominee Nation, placed 39th in 23:10.9.

As for the boys, Menomonee Nation’s Bryant Waupoose III and Shawano’s Josiah Kuehl will compete as individuals, as New London and Rhinelander teams advanced.

Bryant Waupoose was fifth overall with a time of 17:00.3, and Kuehl was eighth overall with a time of 17:24.2.

Menominee Nation’s team placed fourth. Joining Bryant Waupoose were Ryan Corn in 10th in 17:49.7, Barron Waupoose in 28th in 18:34.8, Jason Chapman in 35th in 18:48.5 and Francis Delabrau in 51st in 19:06.8.

Quinn Olson placed 54th in 19:15.6, and Michael Peters was 61st in 19:34.1.

Oconto Falls was sixth and was led by Evan Yuma in 11th place in 17:50.9. Also scoring were Isaiah Holtz in 16th in 18:07, Griffin Kopke in 29th in 18:38.9, Brant Laluzerne in 38th in 18:49.9 and Landon Timm in 42nd in 18:58.7.

Sage Mendolla placed 52nd in 10:09.7.

Shawano runners placed eighth. Joining Kuehl in scoring were Trevor Schwartz in 26th in 18:296, Teagan Harkey in 34th in 18:48.3, Aloysius Frechette in 37th in 18:49.3 and Quinten Harkey in 45th in 18:59.7.

James Lange placed 65th in 10:41.7, and Aiden Sischo was 89th in 22:26.4.

The state meet will be held Nov. 2 at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
