Shawano girls tennis team finishes 5-1 at Battle on the Fox

The Shawano Community High School girls tennis team opened its season by going 5-1 in dual matches at the Battle on the Fox on Aug. 15-16 in Green Bay.

The Hawks were part of the Treasure Division and finished 5-0 against their division opponents, bringing home a trophy for the second time in school history.

In division play, Shawano topped Green Bay Southwest 5-2, St. Mary’s Springs Academy 6-1, Marinette 5-2, Menominee (Michigan) 7-0 and Howards Grove 5-2. The Hawks lost 6-1 to Appleton North.

Jenna Ainsworth and Sarah Carroll earned five wins each for the Hawks between singles and doubles play over the two days of play.

Adison Moesch, Anna Etten and Rachael Carroll were each part of four wins, while Ireland Setterman, Rachael Cooper and Ava Huntington all picked up three wins.
