Shawano boys soccer team earns No. 7 seed for postseason play

Shawano Community High School’s boys soccer team is the only one in the area that will compete in postseason play.

The Hawks earned a No. 7 seed in Division 2. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association finalized tournament brackets Wednesday.

Shawano will open the postseason on the road against second-seeded Freedom on Tuesday. Should the Hawks win, they would travel to take on either third-seeded Waupaca or sixth-seeded Winneconne on Oct. 24.

No. 1 Seymour, No. 8 New London, No. 5 Xavier and No. 4 Fox Valley Lutheran make up the rest of the teams in Shawano’s regional pod.

The Clintonville boys team and Gresham/Bowler boys soccer co-op were not part of the tournament brackets, after having their fall seasons cut short.
