Shawano boys, girls track and field teams place 3rd at invitational

The Shawano Community High School girls and boys track and field teams each turned in third-place finishes at the Irish Invitational April 29 in Freedom.

The Shawano girls team earned 112 points, behind Freedom (211) and West De Pere (157). The Shawano boys scored 83 points, trailing Freedom (206) and West De Pere (130).

The boys and girls teams each earned two first-place finishes on the night.

Jackson Smits claimed the top finish in the boys discus after a throw of 124 feet, 8 inches. Gage Timm won the long jump competition with a leap of 19-10.5.

On the girls side, Isabel Roloff was the top finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.5 seconds. Lydia Beyer, Grace Chelberg, Lily Guenther and Grace Beyer teamed up on the top-finishing 4x800 relay team, posting a time of 10:20.36.
