Shawano boys 2nd at cross-country invitational

The Shawano Community High School boys cross-country team turned in a second-place finish at the De Pere Invitational on Sept. 2 in De Pere.
The boys team posted a score of 72, only behind Bay Port's 48. Gillett and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy also competed, taking sixth and ninth, respectively, on the boys side.

Shawano only had three girls competing, so no team score was recorded. The Gillett girls came in fifth. No Lena/STAA girls ran.

Ethan Onesti was the top finisher for the Shawano boys, placing fifth in 17 minutes, 13.5 seconds. Will Chelberg came in 10th in 17:57.

Aidan Preston (18:27.9) and Andon Chelberg (18:33.8) placed 17th and 18th, respectively, while Connor Chelberg (19:20.9) was the team's fifth finisher with a 32nd-place finish.

The Gillett boys were led by the top-10 finishes of Alex and Evan Peterson. Alex Peterson claimed third with a time of 16:52.8, while Alex Peterson was eighth in 17:55.6.

Connor Hanson took 19th in 18:34.3. Scott Heroux (22:28.1) and Zander Davis (24:36.6) were the team's fourth and fifth runners to cross the finish line, placing 65th and 68th, respectively.

Dylan Comins and Max Beyer led the Lena/STAA boys. Comins took 41st in 19:36.8, with Beyer in 50th with a mark of 20:07.5.

Reed Hosking (21:04.1), Mason Belongia (22:04.3) and Drake Dionne (23:49) rounded out the co-op's team. Hosking placed 56th, while Belongia took 61st and Dionne was 67th.

All three Shawano girls runners finished in the top 10.

Grace Beyer led the way with a third-place finish in 20:31.9, while Grace Chelberg was fifth in 21:12.1. Lily Guenther took 10th with a time of 21:27.4.

Carleigh Kaczmarek took seventh in 21:21.4 to lead the Gillett girls. Angela Mosconi (21:57.7) came in 15th.

Cheyenne Krueger (23:56.7), Kasey Hanson (24:46.5) and Alaina Herzog (25:35.6) rounded out the team's top-five runners, placing 38th, 43rd and 45th, respectively.
