Three Shawano Community High School girls soccer players made Bay Conference teams following the conclusion of the season.

Junior Corissa Hutmaker made the second team. Senior Isabel Colon and junior Kaylee Rindt each made the honorable mention list.

Hutmaker was a midfielder for the Hawks, helping slow down opponent’s attacks while also starting offensive pushes for her team.

“Making the second team was pretty surprising to me, but it shows me that the work I put into soccer this past season was recognized by others, which is very important to me,” said Hutmaker. “It was not a super easy season, and having a reward like making second team certainly helps keeps my passion for the sport alive.

“It will help motivate me going into my senior year because I know that I have set a standard for myself on the field and am looking to keep it. Hopefully, with hard work and dedication to soccer, I will be able to make improvements and possibly earn a spot on first team next year.”

Colon was honored for her play as a defender. She also scored two goals for Shawano in Bay matches.

Rindt made the list as a forward. The junior scored half of the team’s 22 conference goals and chipped in an assist on another goal.

“Well for starters, making the honorable mention (team) was definitely a shock to me but it makes me proud of myself and how far I have come as a soccer player, by putting in the time and effort on and off the soccer field,” said Rindt. “Ever since playing on the fields back behind Kwik Trip as a little girl, always looking up to the high school girls soccer team. Now getting to play on the high school girls varsity soccer team. Learning and growing as a player each practice and game — no matter if they were good or bad practices/games! I would always come back ready to play the sport I love.

“However, most importantly that honor will motivate me to work harder and encourage others to work just as hard as a team because a team is what makes a player and that’s what I will take with me into my senior year. But also without my team and coaches, I would not have earned this honorable mention without them.”
