Shawano’s Henning, Jurmu make all-state baseball lists

Lena, Marion, Pulaski, Witt-Birn add players on all-district teams

Athletes from Shawano, Lena, Marion, Pulaski and Wittenberg-Birnamwood were among the baseball players honored around the state when the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association announced all-district and all-state honors.

Shawano senior Zac Jurmu and junior Ashton Henning each made the all-state honorable mention team while making the first team in the North Central District.

Marion senior Alex Zimmerman made the second team in the North Central District, while junior teammate Jaden Stuhr was on the honorable mention list.

Lena senior Logan Shallow earned a pair of honors in the North Central District, making the honorable mention list for his play on the diamond and also landing on the district’s academic list for his work in the classroom.

Witt-Birn junior Mason Meverden was also a member of the North Central District honorable mention list.

Pulaski senior Jonah Klingeisen earned himself a spot on the North East District honorable mention team.

Jurmu finished the regular season with a .431 batting average and .531 on-base percentage. He drove in 12 runs and scored 23 more.

Henning hit .403 for the season and had a .482 on-base percentage. He drove in 26 runs and scored 23 times. He also served as the team’s ace on the mound.

Zimmerman capped his senior season with a .509 average. He drove in 28 runs, stole 14 bases and scored 18 runs. He also pitched 23⅓ innings and earned four wins on the mound with a strong 1.80 earned run average.

Stuhr won 11 games on the hill for the Mustangs, covering 48 innings and striking out 107 batters. He finished with a 1.45 earned run average. At the plate, the junior hit for a .422 average while driving in 28 runs, swiping 16 bases and scoring 29 runs.

In 20 games, Shallow hit for a .492 average while getting on base at a .588 clip. He drove in 22 runs and scored 30 runs. He also pitched in 15 games, covering 47 innings, posting a 6-0 record and striking out 70 batters.

Meverden hit for a .469 average and had a .553 on-base percentage this spring season. He also stole eight bases. On the hill, he earned six wins and a save, covering 46⅓ innings and striking out 48 batters while posting a 2.42 earned run average.

Klingeisen capped his high school career with a .449 average and .481 on-base percentage in his senior year. He drove in 22 runs and scored 12 runs. On the hill, Klingeisen worked 17 innings and struck out 14 batters while earning two wins.
