Severson named top Legion member for Post 44

Henry Severson was named Legionnaire of the Year for American Legion Post 44.

Severson is very active in the post as the membership officer and a member of the Honor Guard. Severson also coordinates the school flag essay contest by collecting, judging and presenting awards to the winners at the Veterans Day program at Wabeno High School. He was also the chairman of the Legion executive board. Severson also serves at veterans’ funerals. He volunteers at all fundraisers and is always available to help and assist.

Severson was in the U.S. Air Force for five years. He was an E-5 staff sergeant when he got out. His job was a weapons control systems technician and he spent a year in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Now he loves hunting, fishing, and of course staying busy. Severson went on the Honor Flight recently, which he said was an amazing experience.
